Arrival at Little Cayman and the Central Caribbean Marine Institute

We caught our twin otter planes to fly over to Little Cayman and were met by the CCMI team. When we arrived at CCMI we were stunned by the views from our rooms.

Following an orientation tour and a diving and snorkelling briefing we were split into 2 groups - Miriam's Minions and Maisy's Mafia to do a scavenger hunt. The teams were given the first clue with a detailed map of the island and then hopped into a minibus and directed Miriam and Maisy as to which way to go to find the next clue. This was a great way for the pupils to work as a team and discover the island!

By 4 pm we were super hot and the sea was incredibly inviting, so what else could we do but go for a snorkel in the area just in front of the field centre and just as far as the reef wall (about 70 m into the sea). We saw many colourful lobsters, a reef shark (about 2 m in length) and many fish (we will learn how to identify them during the week!).

After a superb dinner (there is plenty of delicious food) there was time to relax and have showers, then pupils had the option of watching a movie "Now you see me" or relaxing. Many of them were lying on their beds and dropping asleep by 9 pm! By 9.50 pm the whole place was silent and all slept well.
